Women's health doctors, and only that.
Our doctors work in women's and reproductive health: fertility, cycles, PCOS, perimenopause and menopause. Bring your own doctor's request and they stay in the background, checking every abnormal result. Choose a KnowLuna doctor and they request your test and explain your results.
The standard
- Registered and current. Every KnowLuna doctor holds current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia through AHPRA. Registration numbers are shown on each doctor's profile.
- Women's health only. We recruit GPs and specialists whose practice is women's and reproductive health, with additional training in menopause care (for example through the Australasian Menopause Society) and PCOS management.
- Review before request. No test is issued automatically. A doctor reviews your questionnaire and confirms the test is appropriate for you before it is requested.
- Results in context. Your results are explained by a doctor who has your history, not by an algorithm.
- Knowing when to refer. Where something needs specialist care, we say so and help you get there.
Clinical governance
KnowLuna will operate under a clinical governance framework: a medical director who owns the protocols, documented protocols for each panel, escalation pathways for urgent results, and regular case review. The framework is being written now and no test will be requested until the medical director has signed it off. We follow the Medical Board of Australia's telehealth guidance and the RACGP standards that apply to the care we provide.
No test will be requested until our doctors are named here.
KnowLuna is appointing its medical director and founding doctors now. Our clinical protocols, escalation pathways and test menu are being developed with practising women's health GPs and will be signed off by the medical director before the first test is requested. Ordering stays closed until then. When each doctor is confirmed we publish their profile here with their AHPRA registration number, qualifications and areas of focus, so you can verify every one of them on the public register. Until that day, nothing on this site is a clinical service and no test can be ordered.
Every single time.
How do I speak to a doctor?
Your results consult is booked from your KnowLuna account, by video or phone, at a time that suits you. See how booking works.
Is the consult included in the price?
With a KnowLuna doctor (Option 2), yes. If you order with your own doctor's request (Option 1), your doctor receives the results and you can add a KnowLuna consult for $59.
I already have a GP request. Why would I use KnowLuna?
For the plain-English report, results you can track over time, faster turnaround, and the option of a women's health specialist reading the result with you. If your GP's request is Medicare-eligible and that is all you need, use it at any lab. We say so on our comparison page.
Can I keep seeing the same doctor?
Yes, where availability allows. Continuity matters, especially through perimenopause and menopause, and we build for it.
Can KnowLuna doctors prescribe?
Where clinically appropriate and within the scope of our service, yes. Your doctor will discuss any options with you during your consult.
